DeEtta Moos

for School Board

Making a Difference

My name is DeEtta Moos and I am running to represent you on the Cambridge/Isanti School Board! I have been very involved in education and have devoted much of my time to working with youth over the past 25 years. Like many of you, I am well aware of the extraordinary pressures the past two years of disrupted learning has had on our kids, teachers and staff. Because of this, I decided to dedicate more of my time to our local school district.

I have regularly attended school board meetings, looked through several curriculums and asked tough questions of our board and administration. I then volunteered to serve on the district’s strategic planning committee and worked with school staff and other community members to craft our district’s values, objectives, and goals.

Through these experiences, I’ve gained a better understanding of the complex issues facing our students, parents, teachers and staff.

My top priority is to ensure our schools offer our students a high quality education that our community approves of and endorses. It is important we keep our curriculum focused on academics, build even stronger parent/teacher partnerships, and maintain a high level of transparency and support. I believe in our teachers, our parents, and our kids! I want every student to reach their full potential and see all their dreams come true.

Last year, I searched for and found a talented retired Math teacher, who was willing to help students shore up any concepts missed during the previous year of interrupted learning. We will be offering this tutoring again later this year. We have a generous community, who is willing to help when the need is made known to them. With a lifetime of experience working with families and children and our strong connections with our surrounding community, I plan to use these skills to help make those connections and guide policy and resources in partnership with our community. It would be my honor to earn your vote and serve on our local school board.

Meet DeEtta

DeEtta and her husband, Todd, have four grown children and have made their home in Isanti County for over 25 years. She grew up on a farm and attended Princeton public school where she was active in Choir, Year Book, Honor Society, Basketball, and Volleyball. She has been devoted to serving her community through countless volunteer hours, teaching all ages of youth in her church and community, volunteering in 4H Shooting Sports and several Community Education activities. After a career in banking for 20 years, DeEtta is now working in her and her husband's landscaping business, TM Home and Lawn Care.

Because of her passion for teaching and her longterm plan for her children to take advantage of PSEO (which wasn't as readily available in high schools when her children were entering school), DeEtta and her husband decided to homeschool their children. DeEtta has taught her four children everything from K-12. She is familiar with the importance of teaching phonics, developing strong reading comprehension, arithmetic from counting to algebra, critical thinking, and the importance of a truthful understanding of our nation's constitution and history. She has been immerse in education for the past 20 years and is very familiar in reviewing and choosing effective curriculum and has learned to adjust her teaching to accommodate multiple learning styles.

All of these experiences have made her uniquely qualified and equipped to be an outstanding school board member! She is one who understands teachers, students, administrators, and families, since she has been active in all of these roles.

A school board member has the very important role of representing and ensuring the community's values and standards within our independent school district reflect that of our unique community.  DeEtta has dedicated her life to teaching and training up the coming generations. This position as a school board member is an opportunity to continue in this role and she would be honored to be chosen as your next school board member.

"I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power."
